Children's Ministry

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
Children’s ministry at Peace Lutheran Church helps children understand God’s unconditional love for them in Jesus, shares God’s love and encourages children to grow spiritually, cultivates caring relationships with adults who pass on the faith, and gives children opportunities to serve their community. Our desire is that every young person feels welcome, safe, and loved.

If your child is interested in joining any of these programs, please contact Jayna Detweiler, Coordinator of Children, Youth & Family Ministry at

A choir for children fifth grade and under. Children of all skill levels are welcome to participate. During the school year, Angel Choir practice meets during Angels of Peace and sings at 11 a.m. worship on third Sundays.
Sunday School (Godly Play) Sundays, 10-10:45 a.m.
Godly play is a class for children ages 3 through 4th grade. Godly play opens children up to experience the wonder of God’s love expressed in Bible stories and to respond with creativity and reflection. In the summer, children meet together on Sunday mornings for a Bible-based activity time.
Children’s Worship Time
Sundays during 11 a.m. worship
After the scripture readings in the sanctuary, children are invited to follow the children’s worship leader into a different space where they experience a child-oriented mini worship service with a short message, prayer time, and collection of offering. Children return to the sanctuary in time to participate in Holy Communion.
Sunday Morning Nursery Care

For children ages four and under, our Nursery Attendant provides a safe, warm, caring, and playful environment in the basement Nursery.

Special Events

FaithQuest Summer Children’s Bible Program
Five weeks in summer, two days/week. 3:15-4:15 p.m.
In conjunction with the Peace Community Center Summer Elementary Academy, we offer a fun and engaging Bible study at the church for all elementary kids. Children do not need to be part of the Summer Academy to attend. Using skits, puppets, drama, songs, activities, and games, adult leaders help children learn more about God and grow in faith. Past themes include: “The Fruit of the Spirit” and “What is Peace?” The program bridges the church, Peace Community Center and our neighborhood.
Summer Bible Adventure (Vacation Bible School)
Kids of all ages and families, come for a Bible-times adventure! Start by sharing a meal. Enjoy fun activities. Learn about God’s love for us in Jesus! Visit the marketplace shops, featuring crafts, music, and food. Witness a drama every evening. Free! Register your child and come! Many youth and adult volunteers make this happen! Contact Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministry Brendan Nelson.
Children’s Christmas Program Third Sunday in December during 11 a.m. worship
Children rehearse several times to prepare to share in word, drama, and song the amazing story of God choosing to come among us as a person in Jesus, a baby born in Bethlehem to know us, love us and save us!
